Fee: $250 for the Series
Led by Agnes Wong, Joy of Drawing instructor
Celebrate the beauty of flowers found in many of Tony Foster's watercolors, painted en plein air, and those found in typical springtime English gardens, as well as our own.
As color is the main element here, after a simple step-by-step study of the flowers each week, we will use colored pencils or watercolors for the final exercises.
Expect to learn the following over the four-week series:
Week One, Primroses and Bluebells: These plants are abundant throughout the lanes, woods, fields, and gardens in the U.K., and in Foster's artwork Bluebells—Looking WNW near the Top of Luxulyan Valley which is included in the Journey Exploring Beauty: Watercolours from the Wild, on exhibition at the museum. [Include image of Bluebells—Looking WNW near the Top of Luxulyan Valley, attached.]
Week Two, Daffodils: Again, we will study this flower from different angles, followed by a watercolor painting of live flowers
Week Three, Rhododendrons: This plant is a common addition to English gardens with its brightly colored flowers that bloom in Spring. After studying its construction, we will do a final drawing and watercolor.
Week Four, An English Country Garden in Spring: In our final class, we will draw and paint an English country garden using the flowers you have already studied, plus some additions that may be found in gardens throughout the UK.
learn to use a grid drawing technique that enables drawing your animal any size, bigger or smaller than the original.
All materials are provided, and students may also bring their own.
