Exploring Time: A Painter’s Perspective
Opening July 8, 2025 at the Cornwall Museum AND ART GALLERY
TRURO, England
Tony Foster’s reflections on his 19th Journey, Exploring Time: A Painter’s Perspective.
From 2007 to 2025, Tony developed his 19th Journey with a complex idea as its foundation: Time. Foster has created a series of works that explore both a macro and micro look at time and how it affects, sculpts, and alters the land, from brief changes in weather and light to seasonal changes to biological and geological time. He states his motivation:
“I want to draw attention to the unseen forces that create place.”

Tony Foster shares thoughts on his 18th Journey and the vital Green River.
Foster’s 18th Journey debuted at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming in May 2023. The exhibition captivated audiences with its introspective narrative of this little-known yet significant water system, the 730-mile-long tributary of the Colorado River. Following the exhibition’s success, it is currently touring at various venues throughout the United States. See below for details.
